Listening notes

I've started off with a "rap" album and a blues album - I have no idea what I'm walking into now. How have I never heard of The Stone Roses if they have one of the 500 greatest albums of all time? I guess 500 is a quite a few...

alternative-type rock, nice soundscape starting the album off

I didn't know what year they were, so I looked it up- 1989. I might have guessed earlier 80s, but then as I've grown older I've realized that my perception of the history of rock 'n roll is often distorted

Are they supposed to be some sort of British Pixies?

I feel a little Pink Floyd psychodelic countryside with "Don't Stop," reminds me of a particular Pink Floyd song from one of their earlier albums like Atom Heart Mother, whatever track is before "Fat Old Sun"

It is a very pleasing album thus far - as opposed to the Pixies, which are interesting for being a little harsh. Nothing particular memorable, but I like where it takes me

The bass lines are pretty simple, but I really like the bass sound. Maybe it's my equalizer, but it is simply promininent enough and sounds nice and fat and purposeful

I like the more funky "Fool's Gold"
